About no reason studio

No Reason Studio is a Hong Kong-based creative studio with a focus on animation, illustration and art publishing.

The studio is co-founded by Florence Yuk Ki Lee, an animation artist from Hong Kong and Di Harper Wu, a video artist from Beijing. They collaborate and explore the possibilities that mundane aesthetics could bring to the visual world, where printed materials and time-based media could be mixed and twisted into a new kind of identity.

No Reason Studio has produced the animated short film Elephant in Castle (2021), which has been selected for prestigious international animation festivals such as Annecy International Animation Festival (France, 2022), World Festival of Animated Film-Animafest Zagreb (Croatia, 2022) and Fantoche (2022). In 2022, the company has produced Park Voyage (2022), a set of preshow animation for M+ Museum. Park Voyage has also been selected for Annecy International Animation Festival in 2023. In 2023, the studio has produced the new short You build a home in my mind (2023), with the support of Animation Support Program’s merit award.

In the past few years, they worked with international clients such as Coca-Cola, Pocari, T Magazine - The New York Times, Hugo Boss, M+ Museum, Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile | The Mills, and Youth Square by New World Development Company Limited (NWD).

No Reason Studio had participated in multiple art book fairs and festivals such as Booked: Hong Kong Art Book Fair 2020 & 2021, Taipei Art Book Fair 2018, Kowloon City Book Fair 2018 and Hong Kong Zine and Print Fest 2017 etc.
